Melvin Thomas "Tommy" Vivian passed away at his residence Monday, July 6, 2020. He was the son of the late Virgil Vivian and Susie Kate Reddix and a lifelong resident of Montgomery Co. Tommy was born January 29, 1943 in Jeffersonville. He began his career as a laborer and retired as the owner of his own excavation company, Vivian Contractors. The result of his hard work is still visible around central Kentucky at places like Bluegrass Airport, the Man of War extension, the original Walmart shopping center in Mt. Sterling, Paris and Morehead, and the Sunset Ridge, Arlington and Val Hollow subdivisions. Tommy was an avid coon hunter who owned and trained numerous Grand Champion and Grand Night Champion Walker dogs. He also owned champion racking horses. He was a long-time member of the Jeffersonville Kennel Club, the United Kennel Club, The American Racking Horse Association. He also served for many years on the Reid Village Water Board.
