Veanie Cockrell 76 of Mt. Sterling passed away Monday, February 3, 2025, at her residence surrounded by her family. She was born on June 15, 1948, in Mt. Sterling to Lloyd and Minnie Hall. She was a member of the Gateway Church of God and was a retired Custodian for the Montgomery County Schools. She is survived by three sons Johnny Martin (Angel), Gilbert Martin (Brenda), Tim Martin (Dixie Black), twelve grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, one brother Sam Hall and eight sisters Mattie, Billie Joe, Nellie, Flora, Mary, Rachel, Libby and Maggie. She was preceded in death by her parents Lloyd and Minnie Hall, her first husband Andrew Martin, her second husband Glenn Cockrell and a daughter Janice Renee Martin. Funeral services will be held 1 PM Friday, February 7, 2025, at the Gateway Church of God with Bro. Tim Cole. Friends may visit Thursday, February 6, 2025, from 6 PM till 8 PM at the church. Burial will be in the Martin – Willoughby Cemetery in Jeffersonville. The Pallbearers are Andrew Martin, Adam Martin, Vernon Martin JR, Johnny Martin, Gilbert Martin, Jared Ward and Chuck Prince. Honorary pallbearers are Whitney Ward, Brandi Reed, Jessica Myers, Madison Shanks and Abby Martin. Grayson Funeral Home is in charge of services.
